Since 2007, Curry Engineers has been offering structural steel connection design services to fabricators and detailers from all over the country. Like our other services, our connection design and coordinating services are second to none.  We design our connections with the fabricator, detailer and erector in mind and we work closely with all three to ensure an economical, safe and code-compliant connection.

Experience Matters...

Our chief connection design engineer, Howard D. Althen, PE has over 15 years of connection design and programming experience and is currently registered in 10 states. Over the course of his career, he has designed connections for structures ranging from large mega-malls to heavy industrial structures (6000+ tons), high-rise structures to missile / rocket support towers for a variety of fabricators, both large and small.  Howard understands the importance of close communication with both the fabricator and detailer in order to minimize the number of RFIs, produce economical connections, and maintain the project schedule.

A Superior System….

Because of the inherent flexibility of our connection design system, we are able to rapidly produce designs, complete with accurate, AutoCAD-based sketches, for almost any connection. In addition, because our sketches are produced within AutoCAD, they are easily modified and manipulated. This way, the detailer has little question as to our design intent which helps eliminate costly mistakes, misunderstandings, and RFIs. Our sketches may be converted to a PDF format for easy viewing on a wide range of platforms or kept in their native AutoCAD 2004 format for detailer / fabricator use. Our calculations, much like our design sketches, were developed for easy review by the approving Engineer-of-Record and are easily available upon request. Finally, all of our calculations were developed utilizing the AISC Steel Construction Manual - 13th Edition which means flawless ASD / LRFD conversion.
